Production of the Rhythmixx

Since we attach great importance to a valuable and sustainable production, we do as much as we can do on site with people with whom we have personal contact. The Rhythmixx is manufactured in the Basel city apprentice workshop. It is made of high-quality material and is intended to last “for eternity”. As a product from Switzerland, it is based on the value of traditional Swiss watchmaking – in other words: The Rhythmixx is designed as an “heirloom” that should be enjoyed by several generations.

It was also important for us to build a device that works without electricity and is operated by hand. The Rhythmixx is not the first mixer with eversion technology on the market.   However, it is the first machine where the foot is based on the horizontal and not hanging in the vertical. This is a decisive difference, because the rhythmic forces can unfold much better into all directions in the horizontal plane. In addition, the eye can follow the process optimally, which is particularly important in manual operation, because by operating the crank we are involved in the rhythmic process with sensitive attention. The speed and number of rotations can be optimally adjusted to personal preferences, especially when using our musical rhythmizing aid.

The following slide show shows our “production manager” Basil Erath assembling the Rhythmixx. The craftsman as an artist. Every detail is characterized by holistic intuition and extreme precision in execution. At its core, the Rhythmixx is not a cold kitchen or laboratory gadget, but a living instrument that lets the soul sing.

Oliver Niewiadomski,
designer and professor

The designer Oliver Niewiadomski, who has been associated with the Kuboid GmbH for many years, gave the RHYTHMIXX its timeless form. With its clear design language, the ingeniously worked-out details and the well thought-out functions, it gives the eversion principle its very own aesthetic and functional identity.

The industrial designer, who works in various fields, designs products such as lights, machines, furniture and much more. As a professor of geometry at the HFK Bremen, he conveys the aesthetics and benefits of geometric shapes to design students and develops illustrative objects, mostly made of stainless steel, as “logic made form”. Some of his objects are in the collection of the Paul Schatz Foundation in Basel.

Since he combines design and geometry in his work, he is the ideal partner for the design of the RHYTHMIXX.

Felix Hediger,
mechanic and sculptor

Felix Hediger is a longstanding partner of the Kuboid GmbH. His two vocations, technology and art, are based on his education as a mechanic and as a sculptor. In doing so, he is close to the ideal of Paul Schatz, who regarded technology as an art form. Felix precisely constructed the Rhythmixx and “cast” the eversion movement into a new mechanical form.

  The special thing about this movement is that the two axes run in opposite directions and that it is a spatial movement. It enables the alternating left and right turbulence of liquids and the extremely fine mixing of powders of all kinds. The eversion movement creates strong forces that penetrate the housing and also have an effect on the environment. The stability of the material and the precision of the gears are therefore particularly important. The “right” rhythm, which makes the difference and enables an optimal rhythmizing, depends crucially on the fact that all parts of the overall composition work together in the best cooperation.
